What is it?
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental health condition marked by very intense, unstable emotions, relationships that swing between extremes, impulsivity and a sense of self that shifts easily. It is not a character flaw, and it improves with treatment.
Signs and symptoms
The most common borderline personality disorder symptoms are abrupt mood swings during the day, intense fear of abandonment, intense and unstable relationships, impulsivity, anger that is hard to control, a feeling of emptiness and, at times, self-harm. They tend to worsen around conflict or separation.
How we help
Borderline personality disorder is treatable. We use evidence-based approaches such as DBT therapy to learn to regulate emotions, get through crises without self-harm and build steadier relationships, in ongoing, non-judgmental support. Online therapy in English, by video call, with an English-speaking therapist: for people in Portugal and for expats, wherever you live in Europe.
