What is it?
Grief is the natural response to a significant loss: the death of someone, the end of a relationship, a pregnancy loss. People often speak of five stages of grief, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, but they do not arrive in order or for everyone. When grief is prolonged or blocks daily life, it may become complicated grief and benefit from support.
Signs and symptoms
Intense sadness, longing, crying, guilt, anger, changes in sleep and appetite and difficulty concentrating are part of grief. It is worth seeking help when, after several months, the pain does not ease, daily life remains blocked, you withdraw from others, or life seems to have lost its meaning.
How we help
Grief counselling follows the process at your pace: a space to talk about who you lost, understand what is normal to feel at each stage of grief, and reorganise life around the loss. We also support pregnancy loss and grief after a separation. Online therapy in English, by video call, with an English-speaking therapist: for people in Portugal and for expats, wherever you live in Europe.
