What is it?
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) starts from a simple idea: between what happens and what we feel there is an interpretation, and that interpretation can be examined. The work is to identify the patterns of thought and behaviour keeping the problem in place, and to test them in practice rather than argue about whether they are true.
Who it is for
Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder and insomnia are where the evidence is strongest. It suits people who prefer a structured process, with clear goals and an end in sight, rather than open-ended support.
What a session looks like
A session has a shape. It starts by reviewing what has happened since the last one, works on a topic agreed together, and ends with something concrete to try during the week. That work between sessions is not an extra: it is where most of the change happens. Online therapy in English, by video call, with an English-speaking therapist: for people in Portugal and for expats, wherever you live in Europe.
